More Fun Facts…

Who invented the first modern air conditioner?

Willis Carrier invented the first modern air conditioner in 1902.  A 25 year old Cornell-educated engineer,  his design was originally intended to help a printing press company with the problems humidity wreaked on paper during the printing process. In just a few months, Carrier had the blue prints an invention changed the world.

Who patented the first cental heating System?

Alice Parker patented the first cental heating system in 1919. Her system used natural gas to power a furnace for heating, a considered revolutionary idea at the time, as it conserved energy through central heating. Parker’s invention laid the foundation for the modern central heating systems our homes are equipped with today.

What’s the difference between forced air and central heat?

“Forced air” refers to any heating and cooling system that pushes air through ducts to heat and cool a structure. “Central air” refers specifically to an air conditioning (or cooling) capacity included as part of a forced air system. Force air systems push heated and cooled air through ducts.

Quick Energy Saving Tips…

Air conditioners are generally in use between May through September.   It’s a good idea to clean them once a month.

Have central air? Once a season, unscrew the vent covers and clean the slats on both sides with a damp cloth to get rid of of dust and other particles.
